Wild weekend of weather starts with a wintry mix

Bitter cold remains as winter weather arrives Friday night.

We're going to see a wild weekend in terms of weather as it's going to have a little bit of everything for this time of year.

It will remain bitterly cold Friday, but the winds won't be as strong as they were Thursday. Still the wind chills will be in the single digits as the high temperature will only reach the low 20s.

The Carroll County airport saw a high of 30 early Thursday morning and a low of 12 by 7:30 p.m.

A Winter Storm Watch is still in place from early Saturday morning until noon. Precipitation will start late Friday and we may see about an inch of accumulation with higher amounts along the Pennsylvania line. It will then switch to sleet and freezing rain overnight and through Saturday morning. By Saturday afternoon it should change to all rain.

There may be a dry period late Saturday into Sunday, but showers return on Sunday and the high will be in the 50s. Another cold front arrives Sunday night and will drop high temperatures back to the 30s for early next week.
