A white Christmas came a day late after light snow showers passed through central Maryland on Thursday morning.
A dusting was expected to accumulate on roadways, with up to an inch of snowfall in some areas, according to the National Weather Service. As much as an inch was reported in northern Carroll and Harford counties, with 0.8 inches in Cockeysville, 0.1 inches in Ellicott City and a trace in Annapolis.
Later in the day, skies are expected to clear and temperatures will hit the mid-40s. Winds from the south and west are expected at around 5 to 10 miles per hour.
A small craft advisory is in effect from 1 p.m. Thursday through the evening for the Chesapeake Bay area as well as the Patapsco, Patuxent, Potomac, Chester and Choptank rivers. Gusty winds and choppy waters are expected.
Sunny skies are expected Friday and Saturday with highs in the mid-40s and around 50 degrees, respectively. Sunday could bring a chance of rain with highs in the mid-40s.
