Weekend weather: Hot, sunny start; then wet

If you have any outdoor plans this weekend, better get them in on Friday.

It's forecast to be one of the warmest days of the year so far, potentially challenging 80 degrees. While the day should start foggy, much like the rest of the week, it should be mostly sunny, too, according to the National Weather Service. AccuWeather is calling for a high of 81 degrees.

But some much-needed rain is expected to start overnight Friday and continue through much of the weekend. At least an inch could fall in Central Maryland both Saturday and Sunday. Thunderstorm activity could pass through along with periods of steady rain. Temperatures should be in the 60s and low 70s.

So, it's probably not the best weekend for garden cleanup or grass seed planting. But -- and this feels like it goes without saying at this point -- mild, sunny weather is expected to resume next week.
