Fringe of Hurricane Matthew brings gale warning Sunday for Chesapeake Bay

The planned destination for the passengers leaving Baltimore was the Bahamas, but the activity of Hurricane Matthew changed course of that trip, sending the ship north and passengers are not happy with the events that followed.

A gale warning has been issued for much of the Chesapeake Bay through Sunday as the fringe of Hurricane Matthew is forecast to mix with a cold front passing across Maryland.

The National Weather Service issued the gale warning, meaning winds over the bay are expected to exceed 39 mph.

A small-craft advisory has been issued Sunday for the Baltimore Harbor, where winds are expected to range from 20 to 38 mph, said Ray Martin, meteorologist with the National Weather Service.

Over land, winds are expected to gust between 30 and 40 mph Sunday in the Baltimore area, Martin said.
