Bitter cold forecast Friday, with more snow chances by next week

As much as an inch of snow fell in parts of Carroll County on Thursday, and bitterly cold winds are forecast Friday with more chances for wintry precipitation ahead.

The National Weather Service received a report of 1.4 inches of snow in Manchester in Carroll. Other snowfall totals included 0.8 inches in Parkton, and half an inch in Reisterstown and Norristown.

A trace of snow was reported at Baltimore-Washington International Thurgood Marshall Airport, as well as in Cockeysville, Owings Mills, Bel Air and Frederick.

Today's high is expected to reach the low 40s, with brisk winds expected, and gusts as high as 23 mph. Tonight's low will dip below freezing.

Saturday may feel warmer, with sunny skies, less wind but only a high of 46 degrees and an overnight low around 37.

Sunday could warm up to the low 50s but the forecast is calling for a 20 percent chance of rain after 1 p.m. The chance for precipitation will increase Sunday night, with a 60 percent chance of a rain and snow mix into Monday morning

The rain and warmer temperatures will continue Monday, with a high of 48 and more rain, but forecasters say Monday night could also bring snow accumulation.
