Severe thunderstorms blew through Maryland Sunday night, bringing as much as an inch of rain and winds nearly 60 mph, the National Weather Service said.
Wind gusts toppled trees in Clarksville, Ellicott City, Columbia, Abingdon, Nottingham and Park Heights, according to weather service reports.
More than 9,200 people — mostly in Baltimore County and the city — were without power shortly after 10:30 p.m., Baltimore Gas and Electric Co. reported. By Monday afternoon, only about 500 in Baltimore County and less than 200 in both the city and Anne Arundel County remained without power.
Downed trees interrupted the morning commute for some around Baltimore early Monday.
A tree on the tracks suspended light rail service between stations in Timonium and North Avenue. Buses were being provided, according to the Maryland Transportation Administration.
Another tree slowed southbound traffic on MD 295 near MD 195 early Monday, according to reports.
