Catholics excused from Sunday Mass during winter storm

Catholics in the region are officially excused form Mass on Sunday if it's not safe to travel to church because of the weather.

A statement from the Archdiocese of Baltimore says Archbishop William E. Lori is reminding those who don't go, however, that they should consider tuning in on the radio, TV or computer.

The options include a live radio broadcast from St. Ignatius Catholic Church in Baltimore on WCBM (680 AM) at 9 a.m. Sunday, which is re-aired at 6 p.m. and streamed online at wcbm.com. Church of the Nativity in Timonium streams its Mass at 5 p.m. on Saturday and 9 a.m., 10:30 a.m., 12 p.m. and 5:30 p.m. on Sunday at churchnativity.tv. And a Mass schedule for the Eternal Word Television Network can be found at ewtn.com.

For those who plan to go to church, the Archdiocese of Baltimore also reminds people to check with their parish about schedule changes.

Further, the statement says, "The Archbishop prays for the health and safety of all during this serious weather event."
