Environmental officials have issued Baltimore a Code Orange air quality alert for Monday, meaning pollution levels could be harmful to children and adults with breathing and heart conditions.
During a Code Orange, families are advised to limit outdoor activity and avoid painting. The alert was issued by the nonprofit Clean Air Partners of Maryland, D.C. and Virginia.
Temperatures Monday are forecast to reach 92 degrees, according to the National Weather Service. The heat will linger Tuesday with forecast highs of 90 degrees, before slipping to the 80s for the rest of the week.
