As thunderstorms battered Maryland Thursday, nearly 100 flights were delayed at Baltimore-Washington International Thurgood Marshall Airport, the airline tracker FlightAware reported.
Downpours and heavy winds began Thursday afternoon throughout the region. A tornado was sighted near Easton and Trappe in Talbot County just before 1 p.m.
The storms delayed flights at BWI into Thursday night, the airport announced on Twitter. Early Friday morning, there were no significant delays reported by the airport.
The earlier weather caused airline flight delays throughout the eastern U.S., said airport spokesman Jonathan Dean.
FlightAware reported 99 delays and 79 cancellations as of 10:30 p.m. Thursday.
