Nearly an inch of rain fell across the Baltimore region Saturday, potentially flooding some streams and creeks, and gloomy conditions were expected to continue into the evening.
Through 6 p.m., three-quarters of an inch of rain had fallen at Baltimore-Washington International Thurgood Marshall Airport since late Friday night, and more scattered showers were possible overnight, according to the National Weather Service. Patchy fog is also possible into the early afternoon.
Temperatures reached 54 degrees at BWI late Saturday afternoon, about normal for this time of year.
Skies are expected to start clearing late Saturday night, with some lingering chances for rain showers. Expect a low around 40 degrees with northwest winds of up to 11 mph.
The precipitation is the product of a slow-moving weather system across the Ohio Valley and mid-Atlantic, NWS said.
But by Sunday, it is expected to be off to sea, leaving mild conditions and some clouds in the forecast for Sunday and early next week. Highs are forecast in the upper 50s to lower 60s with partly to mostly cloudy skies through St. Patrick's Day on Tuesday.
