Event cancellations due to rain and threat of Hurricane Joaquin

With Hurricane Joaquin making its way toward the East Coast, many events have been canceled in Maryland. This list will be regularly updated.

Friday Oct. 2

Outdoor activities at Havre de Grace's First Friday were postponed until Oct. 9. The ceremony to illuminate the Concord Point Lighthouse pink in recognition of Breast Cancer Awareness Month during October was canceled. First Friday indoor activities will go on as scheduled.

Baltimore's Department of Public Works has canceled its Household Hazardous Waste Drop-Off Days on Friday and Saturday.

The weekend's Fells Point Fun Festival has been postponed. Organizers are tentatively looking at rescheduling for the weekend of Oct. 23, 24, and 25, pending Baltimore City services and approvals.

In Harford, Friday's ceremony to light Concord Point Lighthouse for Breast Cancer Awareness Month has been canceled.

Maryland Natural Resources Police have announced that Assateague State Park will close its Day Use areas at noon due to deteriorating conditions.

Some high schools sports events are being affected by the weather as well. In Anne Arundel County, all public school varsity football games scheduled for Friday have been moved to 4 p.m.

In Carroll County, the annual corn maze at the Carroll County Ag Center in Westminster will be canceled all weekend due to the weather. It had been scheduled for Friday, Saturday and Sunday hours.

Saturday Oct. 3

The Steps in a Safe & Healthy Direction 5k, 1-mile Walk and Health Fair scheduled for October 3 at Johns Hopkins Bayview Medical Center is canceled. Registration fees will be donated to the Johns Hopkins Burn Center's Community Outreach and Education Programs.

A Baltimore County Police bike ride involving community outreach officers and children scheduled for October 3 along the Trolley Trail in Catonsville has been canceled due to weather concerns. Another outreach event will be scheduled in March.

Baltimore County's "Super Saturday" flu shot clinics planned for Saturday will be rescheduled. A new date has not yet been announced.

The Movin' to Good Health event Saturday at Northwest Hospital has been postponed. Go to www.lifebridgehealth.org/movintogoodhealth for the rescheduled event date.

Breathe Deep Baltimore 5K walk to raise funds and awareness for lung cancer will be rescheduled for Oct. 18 at Oriole Park at Camden Yards.

The 2015 Darlington Apple Festival in Harford County has been canceled.

The Frederick County Farm Museum Association has canceled its annual fall festival, which was scheduled for Saturday and Sunday at Rose Hill Manor Park in Frederick. The children's museum will remain open with $4 admission. For information, call 301-600-1650 or visit rosehillmuseum.com.

The Chesapeake Bay Wine Festival on Kent Island has been postponed to Oct. 10.

The March of Dimes Bikers for Babies motorcycle ride, initially planned for multiple locations on Saturday, has been rescheduled for Oct. 10. For information, visit bikersforbabies.org.

The Ironman Maryland triathlon in Cambridge has been postponed, tentatively to Oct. 17.

In Ocean City, the Wine on the Beach festival planned for Inlet Park will be rescheduled. The OPA National Championship Power Boat Races are canceled, and organizers are working to reschedule the races to the weekend of Oct. 16-18.

Living History programs at Antietam National Battlefield in Sharpsburg, scheduled for Saturday and Sunday, have been canceled.

Saturday and Sunday's Mid-Atlantic Small Craft Festival and Maritime Model Expo in St. Michael's has been canceled.

The 2nd annual Belair-Edison Beer & Wine Festival has  been rescheduled for Saturday, Oct. 24.

Sunday, Oct. 4

Anne Arundel County's Agriculture Education Day is postponed until Oct. 11. The event will be held from 10 a.m. until 6 p.m. at Y Worry farm, 1501 Rossback Road in Davidsonville. For information, call 410-222-7410 or visit www.aaedc.org.

The Edgar Allan Poe Death Tribute on Sunday in the Westminster Graveyard has been rescheduled for Saturday, October 10, 2015 at 3:30 p.m.

The Chesapeake Down Syndrome Parent Group's Baltimore Buddy Walk, scheduled for Sunday, is canceled. The organization says it may reschedule the event.
