Before the season began, the National Oceanic and Atmospheric Administration gave no hints as to what lay ahead. Without an El Nino or La Nina in place, there were few signals from Mother Nature. It was the Farmers' Almanac that called it best, after all, predicting a "cold, wet and white" winter for the mid-Atlantic.
