Tuesday's storms added more than an inch to Baltimore's official rain tally -- and more than 2 inches in some parts of the region -- making this month at least the second-wettest June on record in Baltimore.
At Baltimore-Washington International Thurgood Marshall Airport, 1.3 inches fell, bringing the monthly total there to 9.57 inches. That is 0.39 inches shy of setting a new record for Baltimore's wettest June, a mark currently held by June 1972 with 9.95 inches.
Rainfall was heavier elsewhere, with 2.62 inches near Jacksonville, 2.11 inches near Owings Mills and 1.87 inches near Elkridge, according to CoCoRaHS, a precipitation-tracking organization.
Plenty of chances to break the June rainfall record are forecast, with chances for rain and storms expected Thursday, Friday and Saturday.
