Tuesday forecast to be cloudy, windy, damp

A dreary and windy day is forecast Tuesday before heavier rain moves in Tuesday and Wednesday.

Areas of drizzle and patchy fog were forecast in the early morning hours, with overnight lows in the upper 50s and lower 60s. Temperatures are forecast to reach the 70s by midday and top out in the lower to mid-70s in the afternoon.

Cloudy skies are expected throughout the day, with 10-15 mph winds and gusts nearing 20 mph. Showers are possible in the evening hours and overnight as a stormy system reaches Maryland by Wednesday.

Potentially heavy rain and thunderstorms are forecast Wednesday, with more than an inch of precipitation possible. Humidity is forecast to be high, with temperatures reaching the upper 70s. More 15-20 mph winds are expected.

Rain could linger into Thursday, with cooler air moving in behind the system. Highs Thursday are forecast in the upper 60s with skies clearing out by nightfall.

Lows are expected to drop back into the upper 40s and lower 50s Thursday night into Friday, with mostly sunny skies and highs in the upper 60s Friday and Saturday.
