Tree, grass, weed pollen surge as allergy season begins in Baltimore

Allergy season is upon Baltimore.

Tree pollen levels surged to extreme levels Tuesday, with more than 3,700 grains of oak, maple, elm, sycamore and ash pollen per cubic meter of air, according to Drs. Golden & Matz LLC, a local allergist practice. Allergens from grass and weeds are also at high levels, at 105 and 52, respectively.

Pollen counts are expected to remain high through the week, with a chance of showers Friday possibly bringing slight relief.
