Temperatures surged to 91 degrees Thursday afternoon at Baltimore's point of record, the first time they surpassed the 90-degree mark in nearly nine months.
Baltimore-Washington International Thurgood Marshall Airport reached its daily high at 3:21 p.m., according to the National Weather Service. The Inner Harbor topped out at 90 degrees at 3 p.m., according to the weather service.
Though this has been an atypically hot month of May, the region had not yet broken the 90-degree barrier. Before Thursday, the hottest day of the year was May 12, when the high was 89 degrees.
The last time BWI hit the 90s was Sept. 6, when the high was 93 degrees.
The year's first 90-degree day came a day later than this year's, with a 90-degree high May 27, 2014. In 2013, BWI hit 90 way back on April 10.
