Sub-freezing temperatures, schools open on time

Be on guard for black ice Tuesday, with temperatures forecast to remain below freezing all day along with cold, blustery winds.

Overnight lows were forecast in the upper 20s to around 30 degrees, and they aren't forecast to rise much after daybreak. Partly cloudy skies and highs in the lower 30s are forecast.

A northerly wind of 15-25 mph is forecast to make it feel like the upper teens to the lower 20s all day.

Lows are forecast in the upper teens Tuesday night into Wednesday, with highs again in the lower 30s Wednesday. Mostly cloudy skies are forecast, with a chance for light snow showers in the evening.

Lows are forecast in the mid-20s with highs in the mid-to upper 30s the rest of the week.

After many schools opened late and some even closed during Monday's weather event, all of the Baltimore metro area's public school systems opened on time Tuesday.

McDaniel College announced Tuesday morning that it would open at 10 a.m.
