Storm system brings tornado, flood warnings to counties north of city

A tornado warning had been in effect for central Harford County from about 6 a.m. to 6:30 a.m. and in Cecil County shortly after and through about 7:15 a.m. as severe thunderstorms moved through the area, the weather service said.

A report was received via social media of a funnel cloud near Abingdon about 6 a.m., according to the weather service. Another was reported to a 911 dispatcher about 6:17 a.m., on Pulaski Highway near Bel Air Avenue in Aberdeen.

The weather service had briefly confirmed a tornado near Perryman just after 6 a.m., but then said the tornado had not actually been confirmed. Radar had indicated a likely tornado in the area, though.

Storms are likely in Baltimore and along the mid-Atlantic coast Tuesday with warm temperatures, before heat and humidity clear out for the rest of the week.

Highs are forecast around 90 degrees in Baltimore. Storms are possible throughout the daytime hours, with chances waning in the evening.

Clouds and humidity are forecast to gradually clear out starting Wednesday, with highs around 80 degrees and dry air. That is forecast to continue Thursday and Friday, with clear, sunny skies and highs in the 70s to around 80 degrees.

Saturday, clouds could begin increasing again with temperatures remaining cool and a chance of showers overnight into Sunday.
