Rain showers forecast for Fourth of July

Showers are likely today, with thunderstorms also possible in the afternoon and evening, potentially disrupting Independence Day fireworks shows.

The National Weather Service forecasts a 70 percent chance of rain during the day, and a 40 percent chance after midnight. Temperatures are expected to stay cool, with a high of 77.

A half an inch of rain is expected by 3 p.m. but should let up around 6 p.m. 

Rain alone won't delay Baltimore City's fireworks tonight, but in case of severe weather, the show will be postponed until 9:30 p.m. Sunday.
