Record warmth forecast Monday; snow chances Wednesday

Warming temperatures could threaten a record in Baltimore on Monday, but just two days later, forecasters are watching chances for a snowy mess the day before Thanksgiving.

Temperatures reached 67 degrees by 9 a.m. at Baltimore-Washington International Thurgood Marshall Airport, after dropping to an overnight low of 51 degrees.

Highs could near the mid-70s, which would break a record high of 73 degrees set in 1979. (Remember, it was only five days ago that a record low of 19 degrees was set at BWI.)

By midday, blustery 20-30 mph winds are expected.

Rain showers fell overnight into the morning hours, with 0.39 inches measured at BWI.

Things are forecast to cool back down quickly, with highs in the mid-50s Tuesday and lows in the upper 30s Tuesday night.

Wednesday could bring a wintry mix of precipitation turning into snow, with afternoon highs only in the upper 30s and lows in the upper 20s going into Thanksgiving morning. Accumulating snow is possible Wednesday night into Thursday morning.

Cold, dry weather is forecast for Thanksgiving, with highs around 40 degrees and lows in the mid-20s. A 5-10 mph breeze could make it feel about 5 degrees colder throughout the day.
