Only a trace of rain fell in Baltimore on Monday, ending a 12-day streak of measurable precipitation. But a record is still possible with more showers in the forecast.
Monday was the first day since April 26 without at least 0.01 inches of rain at Baltimore/Washington International Thurgood Marshall Airport, the region's point of record. Measurable rain fell for 12 straight days starting April 27 but fell two days short of tying a record 14-day streak from 1873.
Given that Monday wasn't totally dry, a record is still in play, though. There have now been 14 straight days of precipitation, most recently with a trace of rain Monday and 0.01 inches and counting on Tuesday, as of 10 a.m.
Baltimore's record of consecutive days with at least a trace of rain is 17, from March 31-April 16, 1935, according to the National Weather Service's Baltimore/Washington forecast office.
At least 40 percent chances of rain showers are forecast every day through Saturday, which would be a record 18th-straight day of rain.
