Rain causing coastal flooding around Baltimore

A coastal flood advisory is in effect through Saturday morning in Anne Arundel County, with heavy rain and onshore winds raising high tides by a foot and a half.

Earlier Friday, high-tide flooding was expected around the Inner Harbor, Fells Point and Bowleys Quarters.

Through noon, 0.7 inches of rain fell at Baltimore/Washington International Thurgood Marshall Airport on Friday morning. More rain is possible throughout the day, with another quarter of an inch to half an inch of precipitation expected, according to the National Weather Service.

The low-pressure system bringing Friday's rain is expected to move off the coast by early Saturday morning, though some chances of showers are expected Saturday.

Otherwise, sunshine and seasonably warm temperatures are forecast for the weekend.

So far in May, through Thursday, 1.21 inches of rain has fallen at BWI. Counting what already fell Friday morning, there has already been more rain this month than the 1.31 inches that fell in April.
