More thunderstorms and strong winds are forecast Wednesday afternoon as a cold front approaches the region.
The Storm Prediction Center forecasts a marginal risk for severe weather across most of Maryland, and from the Carolinas through the mid-Atlantic. The strongest risk is for damaging winds, and possibly hail.
A line of storms was moving through into Frederick County and approaching the Baltimore area by midday.
A wind advisory is in effect through Wednesday night for Carroll and Frederick counties and points west. Southwest 20-30 mph winds are forecast, with gusts up to 50 mph. The strongest winds are expected at elevations above 2,000 feet.
Gusts could exceed 30 mph in the Baltimore area.
Highs are forecast to reach the lower 70s ahead of the storms.
By Thursday, temperatures are expected to fall 10-15 degrees, with highs in the upper 50s and lows dropping back into the 30s for the first time in several weeks.
