After Saturday's downpours, this month isn't just Baltimore's wettest June on record -- it's one of the wettest months ever here.
The rain gauge reached 13.09 inches so far this month at Baltimore-Washington International Thurgood Marshall Airport, the region's point of record, when 3.11 inches fell Saturday.
A new record had been set Thursday, when nearly half an inch of rain fell to narrowly break a mark set amid Hurricane Agnes in June 1972. Saturday's deluge added significantly to that record.
It also moved June 2015 to No. 4 on Baltimore's list of wettest months on record.
It takes at least 10 inches of rainfall to crack the top 10 in the record books, and a foot of rain to break into the top 5.
Most of the wettest months on record here occurred in August or September, the time of year when hurricane season is most active. This month is the only June among the top 10, and one of only three on the list that isn't an August or September.
And one more chance is forecast to move June 2015 up the list, with showers and storms possible Tuesday. It would take a quarter of an inch to move up to No. 3 and three-quarters of an inch to reach No. 2.
