Friday was the ninth consecutive day Baltimore hit 90 degrees or hotter, extending what has been the region's longest heat wave since 2012.
Though forecasters expected temperatures to top out in the 80s Friday, Baltimore/Washington International Thurgood Marshall Airport reached 90 degrees by 3 p.m.
With a streak going back to July 21, it is Baltimore's longest period of 90-degree heat since June 27 through July 8 of 2012.
This month's heat wave came close to surpassing that period. Fourteen of the past 15 days have hit 90 at BWI, the region's point of record.
Four straight days, from Monday through Thursday, hit 95 degrees or hotter, including Baltimore's first triple-digit temperatures in four years on Monday. The last time that happened here was July 15-19, 2013.
Seasonable highs in the mid- to upper 80s are forecast this weekend and into the middle of next week.
