Highs around 90, high humidity forecast for Fourth of July

A steamy Fourth of July holiday is forecast in the Baltimore area, with highs around 90 degrees and high humidity expected, potentially stirring some isolated afternoon thunderstorms.

Temperatures are expected to surge to around 92 degrees by midday. Dew points around 70 degrees, making the air feel thick and wet, could bring the heat index to the high-90s.

Chances of storms are relatively slim throughout the day. About a 30 percent chance of afternoon storms is expected, dropping to 20 percent in the evening hours.

Sunset will occur at 8:37 p.m. and the overnight low is forecast to be about 77 degrees.

Beyond that, the long holiday weekend is expected to be hot and humid but dry. Highs in the lower 90s, with dew points around 70, are forecast Friday through Sunday under partly cloudy skies. There's a chance of isolated thundershowers Saturday and Sunday.
