Heat index could near 100 Friday with highs in mid-90s, humidity

High temperatures are forecast in the mid-90s, with high humidity bringing the heat index to around 100 degrees in Baltimore on Friday, according to the National Weather Service.

Partly cloudy skies are expected, with temperatures surging to 90 degrees by midday. Dew points are forecast in the lower 70s, signifying high humidity and factoring to a heat index of 99 degrees in the afternoon.

Similar weather is forecast for the weekend, with highs in the mid-90s and heat index values around 100 degrees. There could be slight chances of scattered thunderstorms, particularly Sunday afternoon.

Next week, highs are forecast in the lower 90s with slight storm chances.
