November's full moon rises Thursday night, known as the Beaver Moon or the Frosty Moon.

It's known as the Full Beaver Moon because this is the time of year Native American tribes would set traps before swamps froze, according to the Farmer's Almanac, and also as the Frosty Moon as the cold starts to set in.

Weather permitting, it will be visible rising in all its glory, as the moon becomes full at 5:23 p.m., about 20 minutes after the sun sets and the moon rises. But with shower chances in the forecast for much of Thursday, the Baltimore area may miss it.

According to EarthSky.org, the November full moon follows a similar path in the sky as the sun does in May, reaching its highest point in the sky around midnight.
