Baltimore City and Anne Arundel County were under a freezing rain advisory through 6 a.m. Wednesday, with up to a tenth of an inch of ice possible.
The State Highway Administration issued a reminder late Tuesday that even with four wheel drive vehicles, driving on ice can create more challenges than driving in snow. Officials also noted that ramps, bridges and overpasses freeze more quickly than roadways, so drivers should remain on guard at all times. Use caution when merging at ramps and intersections.
Tuesday, some evening activities or classes were canceled in Baltimore County, Carroll County, Harford County, Howard County and at Loyola University.
Rain is likely through early Wednesday afternoon. Blustery winds were expected Wednesday night, with gusts up to 20 mph.
Temperatures are forecast in the 20s and 30s Thursday and Friday, with a chance for a wintry mix or snow on Saturday.
