Unsettled weather is forecast to move into the region on Halloween, bringing chilly air just in time for trick-or-treating and possible rain showers late Friday night.

High pressure expected to bring sunny skies Thursday is forecast to start breaking down Friday, according to the National Weather Service. Rain showers could start in the afternoon in the mountains of Western Maryland and West Virginia, possibly holding off until later in the night for the Baltimore area.

Temperatures are forecast to be in the 50s and falling into the 40s for trick-or-treaters. Overnight lows are forecast in the lower 40s in the city and into the 30s in suburbs and rural areas.

The weather is forecast to get uglier for the weekend. Rain is likely Saturday, with flurries possible at higher elevations. Temperatures aren't forecast to get out of the 40s during the day, with lows close to or below freezing Saturday night into Sunday morning.
