Heavy rain forecast Tuesday; flurries reported early

Rain falling down heavy at times is forecast throughout the day Tuesday, potentially turning to freezing rain north and west of Baltimore, after starting as a wintry mix in the early morning.

Traces of snow were reported in Essex, Glen Burnie and Odenton, according to reports. Farther west, a trace was also reported in Thurmont in Frederick County and Frostburg in Allegany County.

Overnight lows reached the lower 30s in Baltimore and colder to the north and west.

Temperatures are forecast to hover around the upper 30s, making for a cold rain, throughout the day. Freezing rain was possible into the afternoon north and west of Baltimore.

Temperatures could actually increase overnight Tuesday into Wednesday, reaching the mid-40s, but then are expected to fall throughout the day Wednesday as cold air moves in behind the storm. With a 10-25 mph breeze, wind chills are forecast in the 30s and 20s throughout the day and evening.

Some showers could linger Wednesday and could turn into snow showers by the evening.

Lows late Wednesday into early Thursday are forecast in the 20s, with wind chills in the teens.

Mostly sunny skies but gusty winds are forecast for Thanksgiving on Thursday, with wind chills in the lower 20s throughout the day.

The weather is forecast to be calmer but still cold Friday and Saturday with temperatures in the 20s and 30s and sunny skies.
