Severe thunderstorm and flash flood warnings have been issued for the Baltimore area Monday night, the National Weather Service said.
The exit ramp from southbound Interstate 95 to Key Highway was blocked for a time due to flooding, according to the Baltimore Office of Emergency Management.
The thunderstorms are expected to bring damaging winds, large hail, deadly lightning and torrential downpours that could result in flash flooding, the weather service said.
Up to two inches of rain have fallen and another inch could follow.
"Heavy rains flood roads quickly so do not drive into areas where water covers the road," the weather service warned.
The severe thunderstorm warning expired at 8:30 p.m., but was extended later in some parts, including Anne Arundel and Howard counties.
The warning of flash floods across the area lasts until 11 p.m.
