Monday's rain broke daily record

Record rainfall fell at Baltimore-Washington Thurgood Marshall International Airport during Monday's downpour. The National Weather Service reported 2.5 inches of rain fell, beating the 1979 record for the day of 2.14.

Meanwhile, nearly four inches of rain fell in the Bel Air area, according to a weather spotter for the National Weather Service. New Market, Md., saw 2.10 inches.

Rain is expected to continue today, but no severe weather watches have been issued. Temperatures have cooled, with a high forecast to be 68.
