The season's start did not augur a chill ahead. Its first brush with a possible storm came over the Thanksgiving holiday and busy travel weekend, but only traces of snow -- and more than 2 inches of rain -- were measured at Baltimore-Washington International Thurgood Marshall Airport. December brought two snowfalls of less than 2 inches at BWI and an average temperature that was nearly 3 inches warmer than normal.
