Gusty winds, colder weather follow morning flurries

Some areas in Maryland saw flurries early Thursday as a cold front moved through the area.

The National Weather Service said precipitation would end in the region by mid-morning. Wind gusts of nearly 40 mph are expected to follow the front during the day, making already frigid temperatures in the high- to mid-20s feel colder, with a wind chill forecast in the teens until 9 p.m.

Despite sunshine in the afternoon and winds expected to settle in the evening, temperatures will continue to drop into the teens and below, the weather service said, predicting "bitterly cold conditions" overnight.
