What good would Shark Week be without at least one shark sighting in Ocean City?
This story just may fill the bill.
Some teens on a recent fishing outing reportedly hooked a 5-foot shark off the beach in Ocean City. Pictures posted on social media show the shocked shark and even more shocked boys. WJZ reported the teens released the fish back into the water.
This summer has seen a more active number of shark-human encounters along the East Coast, including visits to Ocean City by two different hammerhead sharks.
North Carolina has had more people bitten by sharks in 2015 than in the previous 80 years of record-keeping.
So maybe this season will turn out to be another Summer of the Shark. Or maybe it all ends with Shark Week.
Let's hope so.
