If you've already given away the crib, onesies and bottles, then you'll definitely want to keep your hands to yourself.
Ripley's Believe It or Not! Oddotorium in Ocean City will be displaying 5-foot tall wooden fertility statues from West Africa beginning this weekend.
According to Ripley's, more than 2,000 women have said they became pregnant shortly after touching the figures. After a Wall Street Journal article in 1995 highlighted the alleged powers of the statues, they were dispatched on three world tours. They were retired to a warehouse in 2001.
After repeated requests, the statues were put on display at the Ripley headquarters in Orlando, Fla. According to Ripley's, after a few months, 13 women, including visitors and office staffers, were pregnant.
Now the statues are on their second three-year world tour and Ocean City is one of the last stops.
Would-be parents can touch the statues for free during regular business hours through July 27. After that, you'll need to travel to Gatlinburg, Tenn., to experience their mystical powers.
In addition to the fertility statues, Ripley's has two new attractions on the boardwalk in Ocean City.
•Ripley's Marvelous Mirror Maze features hundreds of mirrors, music, sounds and colorful lighting. There's also a sweet add-on: a candy store with loads of varieties.
•The Impossible LaseRace has players step inside a laser-filled chamber and jump, crawl and straddle a series of laser lights.
The new attractions are located in the Pier Building on the Boardwalk, four doors down from Ripley's Believe It or Not! For more information, go to oceancity.ripleys.com.
