Monkey bar masters and jungle gym novices can rejoice. Maryland is getting an adult- and kid-friendly playground designed to hone agility in Ocean City.
Woodward WreckTangle, a “ninja obstacle challenge course,” is scheduled to open in Ocean City between late April and October, according to a city news release.
The WreckTangle, named after its rectangular shape, will have 10 obstacles designed to be achievable for all ages, the release states. The course will be located in the downtown area, adjacent to the Ocean City Skatepark and just a short walk from the Boardwalk and beach, according to the Woodward website.
“This is a great partnership, in that Ocean City and Woodward both aspire to deliver amazing experiences that bring people together, doing things they love with the ones they love,” Ocean City Mayor Rick Meehan said in the release.
Visitors can use an app to compete in the obstacle course with friends, share videos of their run and track their athletic progression as they hone their speed through the WreckTangle, according to the release.
As a division of the POWDR Adventure Lifestyle company, the Woodward WreckTangle debuted in 2017 at Copper Mountain in Colorado. The obstacle course has expanded locations to Killington Resort in Vermont, Snowbird in Utah, Camp Woodward in Pennsylvania, Woodward West in California and the Hard Rock Hotel Riviera Maya Woodward in Mexico, the release states.
Many of the courses offer summer camps, season passes, classes and private lessons in sports including skateboarding, BMX, gymnastics, cheer, parkour, mountain biking, and digital media, according to the Woodward website.
In addition to the new Ocean City location, more obstacle courses are planned for unannounced locations, according to the release.
