We're betting Dad has enough ties already, so you're probably looking desperately for a Father's Day gift that he'll really love.
How about a ride in a World War II-era B-25?
This weekend in Ocean City, a B-25 Mitchell bomber called Panchito (one of only a few still operating, we're told) will be taking passengers into the wild blue yonder, in exchange for a $425 donation to the Delaware Aviation Museum Foundation.
Fortunately, strafing runs and bomb droppings will not be included. But owner and pilot Larry Kelley will surely leave his passengers with a memory that will be hard to forget.
The B-25 Mitchell bombers were quite the workhorses during World War II. A squadron of them, led by Lt. Col. James Doolittle, was in the skies over Tokyo just months after the attack on Pearl Harbor.
The B-25 flights will take off from the Ocean City Airport, 12724 Airport Road in Berlin, Friday-Sunday, during the weekend's O.C. Air Show. To reserve a seat, call 443-458-8926 or email panchitoB25@aol.com.
