It's electric!
Visitors already know Ocean City is full of excitement, but the boardwalk is set to get a jolt of fun from a group of Tesla owners who will parade their electric cars during the annual Tesla Road Trip - Reach the Beach event.
Tesla Motors, which builds the American-made cars and has a showroom in Bethesda, is known for its pricey and snazzy sports cars that run on batteries. The April 17-19 event is based in Salisbury, where owners of the cars have easy access to the recharge stations needed to make the trip to the beach.
On Saturday, April 18, the cars make the trip to Ocean City's boardwalk, where they will be displayed on the concrete tram lanes of the boardwalk's south end, near Fisher's Popcorn, followed by a parade north from the inlet to 27th Street. Organizers expect more than 100 Tesla vehicles to participate.
Tesla owners can register for the event for a $35 fee.
