Fire damages Catch 54 restaurant in Fenwick

A fire destroyed a portion of the Catch 54 Restaurant Tuesday night, leaving the owner to close the popular seafood spot at least for the next few months, according to a report at delmarvanow.com.

The fire broke out while customers were having dinner at the Fenwick Island, Del., restaurant. It caused thousands of dollars in damages, but there were no injuries.

Still, the blaze comes during the busiest time of the summer season. Catch 54 is owned by Matt Haley's SoDel Concepts, which also operates a number of other eateries in the region, including Fish On, Lupo di Mare, Matt's Fish Camp and Bluecoast Seafood Grill.

Haley told delmarvanow.com that he plans to rebuild.
