Lupe Fiasco to headline Dew Tour stage in O.C.

Rapper Lupe Fiasco, Wolfgang Gartner, Baltimore's The Perfects and indie artist Vital are among the artists set to rock the stage at the Dew Tour's Pantech Beach Championship in Ocean City.

Organizers announced nine musicians set to perform at the Aug. 16-19 event, making it the largest line-up in Dew Tour history.

The biggest name on the roster is Grammy-nominee Fiasco, who will be headlining Friday, Aug. 17, at 10 p.m. on the beach. Rapper Theophilus London will open the show at 9 p.m.

The performances begin Thursday, Aug. 16, at 8:30 p.m. with a set from RAC DJ. On Saturday, Aug. 18, six acts will perform, three during a daytime line-up and three during an evening line-up. Alt-rock fans should check out the daytime set, beginning at 3 p.m., featuring Washington D.C.'s Rites of Ashes, Baltimore's The Perfects and indie artist Vital.

If you're into electronic dance music check out the evening sets. Upstarts DallasK and Two Fresh will be opening for Grammy nominee Wolfgang Gartner. The show starts at 8 p.m. with DallasK, Two Fresh at 8:45 p.m. and Wolfgang Gartner at 9:30 p.m.

The beach is sure to be packed for these free performances, and last year's Kid Cudi concert was a madhouse, so set up early and get a good spot.

You may also recall that at least some members of the O.C. city council didn't think Kid Cudi was "family friendly" entertainment.

In January, when the Dew Tour got the OK for a second year event in Ocean City, the city council told organizers this year's performer should be "geared towards Ocean City's family values," according to notes in the council meeting agenda. A spokesperson for the town said at the time that the notes were suggestions, not demands.

In a press release, event organizers called Lupe Fiasco a "socially conscious rapper/producer," who will "bring his progressive beats to headline the beach."

Kinder, gentler rapper? We shall see, but it seems organizers were listening.
