We asked "Hotel Impossible" hospitality guru, Anthony Melchiorri, to share his impressions of Baltimore.
How did you like it here? Where did you stay?
I really enjoy Baltimore. My family has been here before and we visited Fort McHenry and other sites. This time it was business, so I stayed at the Hampton Inn across from [Camden Yards]. It was very well-run. Very clean. It was a lovely stay.
Did you dine out?
I was able to go down to Little Italy. I had some good Italian at Sabatino's. I was exhausted, so I ordered to go. It was the fastest, freshest takeout, and the food was delicious. They were really nice. Friendly service is what I remember.
You've seen hotels all over the world. Any thoughts on what makes a great one?
I like the three-star branded hotels. I want it clean. Free breakfast. I want to get in and out. Most are really doing a great job. And anywhere you go, if they're gracious and the place is clean, that's generally a nice hotel.
