Claddagh Pub and Restaurant, the popular Canton favorite, is opening a new location near Ocean City just in time for summer.

Paul Cuda, Claddagh's general manager, says if construction permits, the bar hopes to open its second outlet in May at 1106 Coastal Highway in Fenwick Island.

Claddagh, the self-proclaimed original soccer pub of Baltimore, is known as one of the city's best bars for cheap beer. Behind its motto of  "friendship, loyalty and love," the Irish pub keeps its culture alive with homemade Irish food, viewings of Ireland's soccer matches and live music.

The Canton pub is just the latest example of Baltimore hitting the beach. Last June, Federal Hill's Abbey Burger Bistro opened a branch in Ocean City. So did Ropewalk Tavern, but the restaurant chose Fenwick Island for its oyster house.
