Three deer scurried past the Cathedral of Mary Our Queen as Steve Thomas and his wife, Debbie, arrived for Sunday Mass to celebrate the new spiritual leader for Catholics worldwide, Pope Francis.

The crowd – tens of thousands of them—trooped good-naturedly through narrow walkways clutching ear plugs and checkered flags.The drivers praised the twists and curves of roads normally choked with harried commuters.
