Oregon junior Matt Centrowitz (Broadneck) used a stunning kick in the homestretch on the 1,500 final at the U.S. track and field championships Saturday in Eugene, Ore., to run down four-time world champion Bernard Lagat and claim an improbable U.S. title in 3 minutes, 47.63 seconds.
