For host Edmondson, the key to upending No. 3 Lake Clifton in boys basketball was patience and good defense, assistant coach Jess Young said.
And the Red Storm (7-4) showed plenty of both in grinding out a 48-43 victory over the Lakers on Friday night.
Edmondson used a 3-2 zone to force Lake Clifton (8-2) into tough shots. The Red Storm led by as many as 10 points in the second half, but the Lakers came back to take a one point lead with 1:40 left in the game. Edmondson reasserted itself and built a five-point lead in the closing minute.
Rasheed Brown led all scorers with 23 points for Lake Clifton. Demetrious Hoskins had 16 points for the Red Storm.
