Former Orioles catcher Taylor Tegarden and right-hander Jairo Asencio have declared for free agency.
As Class XX(D) free agents, they were both able to declare because they either have been outrighted and have at least three years of major league service time (Tegarden) or have had six minor league contract renewals (Ascencio).
Class XX(D) free agents can declare from Sept. 30 to Oct. 15, but most free agents fall under the Class XX(B) category, and don't become free agents until after the World Series.
