Orioles manager Buck Showalter said earlier this spring that Everth Cabrera would likely see time in the outfield, and Cabrera will start in center field for the first time Monday against the Philadelphia Phillies at Bright House Field.
When Cabrera, normally an infielder, was asked about playing center before the game, it was news to him, but he said it wouldn't be an issue.
“I’ve been playing a little bit of center field before,” said Cabrera, who will also lead off Monday. “It doesn’t matter to me. I need the opportunity to play somewhere and I can help my team to win games.
He said he hasn’t taken any fly balls in the outfield this spring.
