After an extremely long show, two of the most popular superstars in WWE today punched their tickets to a title match at Wrestlemania, as Seth Rollins and Becky Lynch won their respective Royal Rumble matches.
At Sunday night's Extreme Rules, it seemed as if the story of the night would be that the WWE put the Intercontinental title in the main event. Instead, it was yet another pay-per-view in which the discussion was about the fans.
As we head into Royal Rumble weekend, several wrestlers have been spotlighted for the big match. However, one man has had the spotlight on him for the match more than most, and it's the first man to declare he was entering: Elias.

The go-home show for the Rumble featured the usual shenanigans. Of course there were multiple brawls between people who were trying to show they could throw each other over the ropes. We had interactions between the McMahons and the person they're building the Rumble around, Roman Reigns.
Looking back to last year's WrestleMania, all the wrestlers who held a title coming out of the event (Cena, Seth Rollins, Daniel Bryan, Tyson Kidd, Cesaro, and Nikki Bella) are on the shelf with various injuries, and all may end up missing WrestleMania 32.
It was just last year when the WWE was heavily criticized for having Batista win the Royal Rumble. On Sunday night, recent history seemed to repeat itself when Roman Reigns won the Rumble, amidst a chorus of boos.
